AMERA.ORG
Client:
AMERA, The American Music Educator’s Repair Association,
Inc., is a non-profit membership organization that provides
band and orchestra directors around the country with information
and services related to musical instrument repair. AMERA is
a totally web-based organization.
Project Background:
The site is set up in three sections:
Public Section: This portion of the site, which
contains an introduction to AMERA, is accessible to everyone.
Calendar - Contains a calendar of events with online
registration for Workshops. If members are logged into
the site, their details are automatically filled in for
them when registering. The registration page is automatically
removed after the workshop or clinic has taken place.
A review page is generated once the review of the event
has been added in the admin section of the site.
Online Registration – Becoming a member of AMERA
is as simple as completing the online application. The
information is encrypted with the use of a digital certificate,
making it safe to enter credit card details.
Member Section: Only registered members
of AMERA can access this section. It consists of many applications
such as:
Live Support – This is a one-on-one chat room that
enables members to instantly receive answers to their
questions. When a member initiates a chat, the AMERA admin
on duty receives notification and answers the request.
Contains a full admin section through which other representatives
can be set up as operators on duty, statistics can be
viewed, and administrators can initiate chats.
Classified Ads – Members can post, edit, and delete
their own classified ads, post pictures, decide how long
to run the ad, etc. Contains admin section with user details,
logs, and the ability to mass email those who opt-in for
updates.
Tutorials – uses a Windows Explorer hierarchy for
displaying tutorials in categories. Members can easily
find the specific information for which they are looking,
or simply browse the contents.
Forum – A forum is set up through which members
can ask questions, share expertise, or unload after a
hard day.
Profile Editor – Members can update their member
info and view items such as past workshops they’ve
attended and credits they’ve earned.
Membership Certificate – Once a member is active
in the system, a membership certificate is automatically
generated in PDF format and made available for download
and printing by the member.
Admin Section: The admin section is the
largest section of the site and is completely automated.
Highlights include:
Automation
When a new member signs up for AMERA, a welcome kit
is automatically sent out as soon as the account is
activated. Members are automatically notified by email
several times before their memberships expire, allowing
them to conveniently renew with a click of a button.
Admins have the ability to mass email all members who
opt-in to receive the AMERA quarterly newsletter
Workshop Registration/Credits/CEU’s – AMERA
gives college credits and/or CEU’s for all of
its workshops. A system was needed to keep track of
all this information. Blue Frog implemented a custom
application that allows all workshops, participants,
and credits to be tracked. Members can easily view their
profile to see workshops they’ve attended and
credits they’ve earned.
Content Management System
Much of the content on the site can be changed, updated,
deleted, etc. in the admin area. No need to wait for
the webmaster to get around to updating it!
Membership Management System
Allows Admin to search and sort through the list of
current and past members. Admin can view, edit, and
update current members and add new members.
